More About Me
I have seven years of experience in journalism. I began news reporting as a sophomore for my high school news site, The Foothill Dragon Press. In my senior year I took on the role as editor-in-chief and led my press team to be nationally recognized; awarded a Silver Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and nominated as a Pacemaker Finalist by the National Scholastic Press Association and Journalism Education Association.
Beginning my journalism degree at University of Colorado, Boulder, I intended to take an emphasis in environmental journalism and grow my technical skills as a photographer. By the end of my college career I had an insatiable passion for science, I had picked up a second major in Anthropology with a minor in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I am very proud of the underwater video analysis work I have done for the Johnson Lab, studying the infection prevalence and possible behavioral effects of a trematode parasite on reef fish in the Southern Caribbean. I have gotten the opportunity to travel to Vietnam, Costa Rica, and the Florida Keys to conduct field research on monkeys, leaf cutter ants, and sharks.
My career will be dedicated to intertwining my two passions: ecology and journalism.
